John McCorvey draws upon 21 years of legal experience in civil litigation to resolve business and real estate disputes. John McCorvey is AV® Preeminent ™ rated by Martindale-Hubbell. Mr. McCorvey is also a Florida Bar Certified Circuit Court Civil Mediator with training in dispute resolution. The litigation process is sometimes necessary, but is often unpredictable and expensive, with the litigants having very little control over the outcome. He has handled hundreds of civil disputes, tried cases before judges and juries in Florida courts, and understands the litigation process. He also recognizes and appreciates the practical aspects of litigating a dispute, including the frustration, stress and financial impact upon clients. As a result, he approaches dispute resolution not only with extensive legal knowledge and experience, but also with consideration for the “people” issues involved. He encourages outcomes that are positive for clients and minimize the negative aspects of involvement in a controversy. However, should trial be necessary, he stands ready with experience and knowledge for effective advocacy on his client’s behalf.
Mr. McCorvey is admitted to practice in all Florida courts and the federal courts of the Middle District of Florida. He is a member of the Florida Bar and the Jacksonville Bar Association. He served as president of the Young Lawyers Section of the Jacksonville Bar Association (1997-1998) and chairman of the Sole Practitioner/Small Firms Committee of the Jacksonville Bar Association (2001-2002). He is an alumnus of the Chester Bedell Inn of Court (Pupil Attorney 1991-1992).
Mr. McCorvey was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida, where he graduated from Episcopal High School. He enjoys membership in the Rotary Club of West Jacksonville where he serves as a member of the board of directors and President-Elect. He is also a member of the 200 Club, an organization benefiting family members of firemen and policemen killed or injured in the line of duty. From 1991 to 1993, he served on the board of directors of Willing Hands, Inc., a not-for-profit organization focused on volunteerism and fundraising to better the community. In 1997, Mr. McCorvey was selected as one of Jacksonville’s 50 Finest Singles by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation based upon leadership and community service. He served as president of the Webb Center (1999-2000), a not-for-profit organization serving disabled children and young adults. Mr. McCorvey currently serves on the Advisory Board of Directors of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation for the North Florida Chapter. Mr. McCorvey served as chairman of the 2009 and 2010 Tailgate Kickoff To A Cure, which together raised over $100,000.00 to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. To read about the event, Click Here.
Mr. McCorvey attended college at Stetson University where he majored in finance and graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. Prior to returning to law school, Mr. McCorvey was employed as a licensed residential mortgage loan solicitor with Stockton, Whatley & Davin, in Orange Park, Florida, where he received the “Rookie of the Year” award.

I’m different because I’m more interested in resolving the dispute than playing the lawsuit game.Mr. McCorvey received his law degree from Stetson University College of Law, where he served as research editor on the Stetson Law Review, graduated with honors and was the recipient of the Cecil and Augusta Bailey scholarship award upon graduation for leadership, scholarship and character. He is the author of “Corroboration or Propensity? An Empty Distinction in the Admissibility of Similar Fact Evidence, “ Vol. 18-1, Stetson Law Review, which was selected for inclusion in the Westlaw database. While in law school, Mr. McCorvey also received the award for Best Speaker, Freshman Moot Court Competition.
His professional lecturing includes serving as a panelist/speaker, “Collection Law Update in Florida,” a Florida Bar approved CLE seminar, Lorman Education Services, February 19, 1999. Mr. McCorvey was also a speaker at “Judgment Enforcement in Florida,” a Florida Bar approved CLE seminar, Lorman Education Services, September 23, 2008. During October 2008, Mr. McCorvey was a guest on FM 88.1 “The Promise” morning radio show to answer questions from callers on the topic of foreclosure, and a speaker before the West Council of the Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce on the topic of foreclosure, including pitfalls for lenders. Mr. McCorvey appeared as a guest on FM 88.1 "The Promise" again in February 2009 to discuss issues pertaining to business disputes.
In January 2009, Mr. McCorvey presented a program entitled "The Steps of Foreclosure" to the First Coast Chapter of the Risk Management Association, a not-for-profit organization whose sole purpose is to advance the use of sound risk principles in the financial services industry. More recently, Mr. McCorvey was a speaker at "Real Property Foreclosure: A Step - by - Step Workshop," A Florida Bar approved CLE Seminar, National Business Institute, February 1, 2011.
Mr. McCorvey and his family are active members of Ortega United Methodist Church. In his leisure time, Mr. McCorvey enjoys fishing, the outdoors and spending time with family.
